The Actuarial Foundation raises more than $17,000 for Actuarial Diversity Scholarship

Thank you, Ernst & Young and SOA Foundation luncheon attendees, for your incredible generosity in supporting the Actuarial Diversity Scholarship with more than $17,000 in donations.

The Actuarial Foundation ensures the future of the actuarial profession through its scholarships and reimbursement programs. Recipients of Foundation scholarships are selected by representatives of the actuarial profession, who may one day be their peers. Not only are these scholarships a means to offset the cost of education, they also serve as a prestigious recognition by a highly rated profession.

At the Foundation luncheon sponsored by Ernst & Young during the 2017 SOA Annual Meeting & Exhibit, past Actuarial Diversity Scholarship recipient Michelle Muzulu shared her inspiring story with attendees. After her presentation, the Foundation’s executive director, Jason Leppin, made a call for donations to the scholarship. Seeing and hearing what a difference the scholarship made for Michelle must have had quite an impact—more than $17,000 in donations was raised.

Thanks to the generosity of the luncheon attendees, The Actuarial Foundation will be able to help open the door to the actuarial profession for minority students and assure the continuation of a diverse, high-quality actuarial candidate pool with the Actuarial Diversity Scholarship program.
