The Actuarial Foundation supports an array of educational initiatives including the Advancing Student Achievement (ASA) program which places actuaries, and their love of math, in the classroom where they can make a difference in our schools. As volunteer mentors, actuaries bring a unique perspective into the classroom. By sharing your time and expertise — in partnership with local teachers — you can help children understand and appreciate the power of mathematical problem-solving.

In addition to the ASA mentoring programs, The Actuarial Foundation is engaged in a wide variety of ongoing youth education programs. We provide teachers with free math enhancement materials that align with national standards. Actuaries helped develop these materials and are encouraged to bringthese materials to schools in their communities. Many actuaries are already presenting these math enhancement materials to students in math classrooms across the United States.

The Actuarial profession is a mathematics based profession. Mathematics is an everyday workplace tool for actuaries. The profession's ability to continue providing competent service in the future requires supporting mathematics achievement among today's students. Mathematics learned in the classroom today is employed at work by the actuaries of tomorrow.
