Trenton, NJ
Education Works, Inc.

The Actuarial Foundation’s Advancing Student Achievement (ASA) mentoring program continues at Education Works.

Mentoring opportunities will allow you to:

Work with students: Work with 6-8 grade students in activities that will strengthen students’ basic math skills and their understanding of more advanced skills such as geometry, algebra and calculus.

Participate in innovation: Students from Luis Munoz-Rivera School will participate in an after school Math Club at Education Works. Each mentor will meet with students one day per month from 3:30-4:30 pm. Work with students on expanding their understanding of the everyday uses of money and explore banking, credit, savings, stock market, investments, loans, and more. Through the use of e-learning tools, such as electronic graphing calculators, students will see how their investments grow or decline, how the stock market changes, and how interest rates affect the cost of things.

Work in a fun environment: Education Works is highly committed to increasing the proficiency of the Rivera students and have teamed with Trenton School District staff and Rivera’s administrators to design a program that will enable our after school students to achieve higher grades in math and greater understanding of the role that math plays in their world. The ASA program developed by Education Works is very flexible and they will work to accommodate your busy schedule!
