The Actuarial Foundation is launching an Advancing Student Achievement (ASA) mentoring program at Ringgold High School.

Mentoring opportunities will allow you to:

Work with students: Work with 11th grade students on fun math projects using their new graphing calculators.

Participate in innovation: Best practices research in math education suggests that students benefit from hands-on demonstrations for solution of graphing calculator problems in very small-groups, coupled with directed activities that students can catalog and chart in a Math Log Book. The role modeling by actuaries who can express their personal thought process as they work through problems is invaluable to struggling learners, and impossible for them to comprehend in a normal math class setting.

Work in a fun environment: The program is fun and flexible! Ringgold High School’s cross-curricular subject teachers will work with you to find a day and time that is convenient for you to meet with the students!
