Conference of consulting Actuaries

building your future
matching gift program

The Actuarial Foundation’s 2009 QUENCH THE THIRST campaign to provide high school teachers with donated classroom sets of the Building Your Future financial literacy curriculum was a big hit with teachers across the country. Although more than 3,000 high school teachers have received the Building Your Future materials THE THIRST REMAINS as more teachers continue to reach out for these materials.

The Conference of Consulting Actuaries has generously established a Matching Gift Program for their members to support the Foundation’s THE THIRST REMAINS campaign to fulfill teacher requests for this financial literacy curriculum.

Engaging and informative, Building Your Future gives teens a lifetime of sound personal financial and money management skills, covering topics such as credit cards, loans, investment risk and diversification, and managing bank accounts. Consider the following:

  • 84% of college students have a credit card—half have four or more;

  • The median debt for college freshmen in 2008 was $939, nearly triple the number in 2004; and

  • 64% of college students wish they would have received financial management education in high school.

The Actuarial Foundation developed Building Your Future to reach students before they face the challenges of college and life on their own.
